Instrument initialization error during startup
1. Usual root causes
During Instrument initialization the manifold arm moves into home position and the plate transport into load position. If one of these positions cannot be found the error will be displayed.
2. First aid
If the issue is caused by the plate transport please follow below procedure:
- Switch off the instrument.
- Lift the manifold arm
- Slightly tilt the plate carrier towards the right.
- Carefully slide the plate carrier with the prime tray at the rear over the guide bar.
The plate carrier must be slightly tilted so that it goes over the pin that activates the automatic microplate centering mechanism.
- Clean the plate carrier guide bar with 70% ethanol
- Reinstall the plate carrier
- Check to ensure that the plate carrier is correctly inserted into the instrument and move it into the instrument.
- Lower the plate carrier.
- Lower the manifold arm.
- Switch the instrument on again and check if the issue has been resolved.
3. Typical solution
If the issue is caused by incorrectly inserted plate carrier this error can be avoided by cleaning the instrument according to the instructions for use and checking that the plate carrier is correctly inserted after cleaning.

If the issue cannot be resolved, contact Tecan® to schedule an onsite intervention or to send the instrument for in-house repair.
