Number must be either non-negative and less than or equal to Int32.MaxValue or -1. Parameter name timeout

Introduction:

The error message “Number must be either non-negative and less than or equal to Int32.MaxValue or -1. Parameter name timeout” can appear during measurement with i-control™, Magellan™, or MultiCheck™ Software.

First aid

As the root cause of this error, we assume the Windows clock, which in some cases can lead to negative calculated times in the Tecan software packages, and subsequently the error is shown.

  • Perform Windows Updates on the control PC.
  • Install i-control 1.12 or higher for Infinite® 200 PRO, Infinite® M1000 PRO, Infinite® F500.
  • Install Magellan 7.2SP1 or higher for Infinite 200 PRO, Infinite M1000 PRO, Infinite F500 and Sunrise™.

For Infinite F50 instruments, the fix implemented in Magellan 7.2 SP1 and i-control V 1.12 wasn’t effective. Therefore, when working with Infinite F50 instruments, perform clean shutdowns of the PC regularly, so that the Windows clock is reset.

Please note:
Usually, the „fast startup“-function is activated on the PC per default, make sure to deactivate this option so that a clean shutdown is possible, or force a clean shutdown manually – see below.

Clean shutdown procedure:
-) Start Cmd. Exe with Windows administrator rights.

T006_1

-) Type in:

shutdown /r

After that, you will receive the following message:

T006_2

After around 30 seconds the PC will perform a restart.
